DVI to deploy Volt/Var optimization capability for Modesto Irrigation District

DVI, a Dominion company, will provide a suite of energy management software, which it calls EDGE, to the Modesto Irrigation District (MID).

EDGE will be used in conjunction with the existing Silver Spring Networks advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) deployment to provide MID with advanced Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) and Volt/Var Optimization (VVO) capabilities.

EDGE is a modular and adaptive conservation voltage management solution enabling utilities to deploy incremental grid-side energy management that requires no behavioral changes or purchases by end-use consumers. EDGE provides energy savings of as much as 4 percent through integrated planning, execution and validation of grid side energy efficiency management.

DVI is a provider of grid optimization technology providing solutions for energy efficiency, demand response and volt/VAR control.

DVI is a unit of Dominion (NYSE:D), one of the nation’s largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of about 27,000 MW of generation.
