Crane rehab tender changed to crane removal at Corps’ Selden Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has revised a solicitation for crane rehabilitation to request crane removal and disposal at Selden Dam on Alabama’s Black Warrior River. Bids are due April 21.

Selden Lock and Dam forms Warrior Lake on the Corps’ Black Warrior-Tombigbee Lake System. Although Selden is not a hydropower project, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has issued a preliminary permit to Warrior Hydro LLC to study building the 20-MW A.I. Selden Lock and Dam project (No. 13013) at the dam.

The Corps previously called for bids in February for rehabilitation of a 17-ton spillway crane at the project. In a set-aside for small business, the Corps sought rehabilitation of the spillway crane including cleaning, repairing, spot painting, and replacing equipment.

An amended solicitation now simply calls for the crane’s removal and disposal, still as a set-aside for small business.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W9127811R0027 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.

Bids now are due by 2 p.m., Central time, April 21. For information, contact Helene Mitchell, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers District, Mobile, P.O. Box 2288, 109 Saint Joseph St., Mobile, AL 36628-0001; (1) 251-441-6531; E-mail: [email protected].
