Corps sets industry day for emergency dam repair, infrastructure work in eastern U.S.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled an industry day on proposed emergency dam repair and other infrastructure work in the eastern United States. The meeting is scheduled July 24.

The Corps’ Baltimore District invites small business, historically underutilized business zone (HUBZone), service-disabled veteran-owned small business, and woman-owned small business contractors to participate in the industry day. The district proposes a multiple award indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract for time sensitive disaster or emergency assistance construction activities related to flood damage reduction and federal dams and reservoirs.

The Corps sought information in April on small businesses able to provide rapid-response services to repair and rehabilitate dams, reservoirs, and flood and hurricane protection projects in the region. It recruited architect-engineering firms in 2010 to provide multi-disciplinary services in the same area.

Work would include stream bank and shoreline stabilization and protection, ecosystem and habitat restoration, and flood damage reduction primarily in the Baltimore District’s territory of Maryland, the District of Columbia, and parts of New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The contract also could be used anywhere in the Corps’ North Atlantic Division, encompassing the east coast from Maine to Virginia.

A special notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912DR13S0036 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. The industry day is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. July 24 at the Welcome Center Multi-Purpose Room of Raystown Lake in Hesston, Pa.

Those planning to attend should contact the address below by e-mail by noon July 23. For information, contact Christina Sale, Contract Specialist, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, 10 S. Howard St., Baltimore, MD 21203; (1) 410-962-3526; E-mail: [email protected].
