Corps extends, expands call for geotechnical firms for dam safety program in western U.S.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers extended the deadline for expressions of interest from firms to provide geotechnical-focused engineering, investigation and design services for dam and levee safety programs in the western U.S. Responses now are due Oct. 2.

The Corps’ Sacramento District also expanded the call, issuing parallel invitations to both large and small businesses. Responses previously were due Aug. 20. The district requested information in July on firms able to perform civil works design on a range of dams, other water resources structures and other facilities in the region.

Recent work in the region includes two California projects, an auxiliary spillway at the 198.72-MW Folsom Dam hydroelectric project on the American River and remedial actions to prevent possible failure during earthquakes of Isabella Dam, site of the 11.95-MW Isabella project (No. 8377) on the Kern River.

In parallel solicitations, one for small businesses and one unrestricted, the Sacramento District now invites expressions of interest to perform geotechnical-focused engineering, investigation and design services in support of dam and levee safety programs in the Corps’ South Pacific Division including much of the western U.S. It plans to award two unrestricted fixed-price maximum five-year contracts worth a maximum of $20 million each and two small business fixed-price maximum five-year contracts worth $9.8 million each.

It seeks architect-engineer services for investigation, studies and design leading to construction of flood management structures including major dams, levees, channels and associated appurtenant structures and construction phase services.

An unrestricted pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9123815R0004 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. A small business pre-solicitation notice may be obtained by entering Solicitation No. W9123815R0005 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.

Interested firms now are invited to submit Standard Form 330 packages to the address below by 4 p.m., Pacific time, Oct. 2. Forms may be obtained on the Internet at www.gsa.gov/portal/forms/type/TOP/category/22457/hostUri/portal.
