American Contracting LLC of Fort Collins, Colo., has been awarded a contract worth $49 million for work to include left upstream blanket repairs and right abutment drains at Pipestem Dam on Pipestem Creek in North Dakota.
Work American Contracting will perform involves design-build and construction services to include buildings, structures, and site work.
In the original solicitation, issued in May, the Corps’ Omaha District indicated it planned a multiple task order contract with up to five awards with a shared capacity of $49 million. As part of the solicitation, the Corps planned to award Task Order No. 0001 for left upstream seepage blanket repairs and right abutment drains at Pipestem Dam. The work is valued at $500,000 to $1 million.
The task includes placement of compacted earthfill to restore a seepage blanket and placement of about 2,500 tons of riprap on the upstream face of the dam to protect the underlying seepage blanket. A new drain of about 1,100 feet is to be installed to control seepage pressures in the downstream right abutment area.
Pipestem Dam is a 99-foot-tall, 4,000-foot-long rolled earthfill dam completed in 1973 to provide flood control, fish and wildlife enhancement, and recreation.
