At the 2017 Energy Star Products Partner Meeting this week in Chicago, energy efficiency firm CLEAResult said it was nearing its 100 million energy-efficient lightbulbs milestone through a partnership with ComEd.
The program works by providing instant in-store discounts at participating retail stores on select Energy Star certified LEDs and trim kits. ComEd customers can easily find qualified products on shelves by looking for the ComEd “Lower Price” sticker.
LEDs use about 75 percent less energy and last at least 15 times longer than traditional incandescent light bulbs. Since 2008, the program has achieved energy savings of more than 3.3 billion kWh which is enough energy to power more than 265,000 homes for one year
“This program is a testament to the power of industry collaboration to develop a seamless way for customers to access energy-efficient lighting products and save energy,” said George Malek, ComEd’s Director of Energy Efficiency Services.
“Over the past nine years, the ComEd lighting discounts offering has transformed the lighting market in northern Illinois and successfully increased customer awareness of energy-efficient lighting technologies, as evidenced by this approaching milestone achievement,” said Shaun Dentice, Senior Director, CLEAResult. “Thanks to ComEd’s dedicated leadership and hard work, as well as the collaborative efforts of our manufacturers, retail partners, and our own on-the-ground regional team, we’re excited to celebrate the success of this program with our partners.”
CLEAResult partnered with ComEd to provide education and training to consumers and participating retailers, conducting more than 320,000 consumer events and 2,700 in-store trainings promoting the benefits of installing Energy Star certified lighting products. CLEAResult also partnered with more than 1,500 national, regional and independent retailers, as well as online retailers, providing ComEd customers numerous choices for purchasing energy-efficient lighting products.
