DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 20, 2002 — CMS Energy Corp. today announced Michael D. VanHemert has been promoted to the new position of vice president and secretary of its diversified energy business unit, CMS Enterprises.
VanHemert, 46, is responsible for managing CMS Enterprises’ corporate secretary activities and for CMS Energy’s investor services and corporate records areas. He retains his previous duties as deputy general counsel of CMS Energy with responsibility for financing and securities matters.
He joined the Company in 1996 as assistant general counsel of CMS Energy. Before that, he had been vice president, senior corporate counsel and assistant secretary of First Chicago NBD Corp., since 1989. Before that he worked in private law practice in Boston since 1984.
VanHemert earned a law degree from the University of Michigan in 1983, and a bachelor of arts degree from Hope College in 1977.
