Cement company first to file as Texas electricity retailer

Oct. 3, 2000–A cement and steel company is the first and-so far-the only company to file an application to become an electricity retailer in Texas. September 1 was the first day companies could register interest in selling power under the state restructuring law and no other companies have filed yet, according to records at the Public Utility Commission of Texas.

FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 2, 2000–XENERGY, an energy consulting firm, has joined KEMA Consulting, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KEMA. With the addition of XENERGY, KEMA Consulting now has 400 experienced power industry specialists who provide a full complement of services supporting generation through the customer side of the meter. KEMA clients represent the complete spectrum of participants in the energy marketplace.
