Canadian utility BC Hydro seeks bids to perform piezometric response tests at Duncan Dam on the Kootenay River in British Columbia. Bids are due Aug. 5.
Built in 1967, Duncan Dam is one of four dams authorized by the Columbia River Treaty between Canada and the United States. Although constructed as a storage reservoir with no hydropower generation, Duncan is the site of a 2010 hydrokinetic demonstration project to install four 25-kW vertical-axis turbine-generators.
BC Hydro seeks bids to provide consulting services to design, execute and analyze two piezometric response tests at Duncan as part of the utility’s Dam Displacement Monitoring Dam Safety Instrumentation Upgrades Project. The work is to be performed in two stages in October 2014 and June 2015.
