Canada utility seeks dam safety reviews of three dams, hydro projects

Canadian utility BC Hydro seeks bids to conduct dam safety reviews at three dams, including sites of two hydro projects, in its Bridge River generating system in British Columbia. Bids are due April 29.

BC Hydro last year took bids for penstock leak detection at the 180-MW Bridge River 1 hydroelectric project, with options to perform similar work at another five hydro plants. It also took bids for project management of maintenance and capital projects on the four-plant, 492-MW Bridge River generating system. BC Hydro took bids in March for 16 air coolers for the 67.5-MW Strathcona hydroelectric project on the Campbell River.

The utility now seeks bids to conduct dam safety reviews in 2014 for 22-MW La Joie (or Lajoie) Dam, 42-MW Seton Dam, and Terzaghi Dam, which impounds Carpenter Lake to supply two Bridge River generating stations. The other Bridge River generating system plant is 248-MW Bridge River 2.
