Baltimore Hydraulics wins contract for gate hoist rehab work at 10-MW Fontenelle hydropower plant

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a contract to Baltimore Hydraulics Inc. to refurbish radial spillway gate hoists at the 10-MW Fontenelle Dam on the Green River in Wyoming.

The bureau issued a solicitation for the work in August.

Reclamation said it expects Baltimore Hydraulics to provide pricing to recondition and pricing to replace one hoist during fiscal year 2013. The decision whether to recondition or replace the unit will be made after it is disassembled and inspected. An option to recondition or replace the second hoist will be awarded at the government’s discretion.

Fontenelle Dam began generating electricity in 1968 as part of Reclamation’s Seedskadee Project, authorized with the Colorado River Storage Project in 1956. Reclamation awarded a contract in 2009 to Turbine Control Service Associates Inc. to provide a static excitation system for Fontenelle.
