Armenia seeks design, supervision of seven reservoirs

The government of Armenia invites expressions of interest from consultants to design and supervise construction of seven irrigation reservoirs. Responses are due November 26.

The U.S. Millennium Challenge Corp. has agreed to provide Armenia assistance totaling US$235.6 million to reduce poverty through economic growth. Part of the money is to be used for the Irrigated Agriculture Infrastructure Activity program for design and construction of the seven reservoirs.

The government plans to develop the reservoirs in three design packages:
o Construction of incomplete Artik and Kaps reservoirs;
o Construction of Lichk Reservoir; and
o Construction of Agrija, Vardenut, Lernarot, and Bagravan reservoirs.

Technical and economic feasibility studies for the seven projects are under way. (HNN 8/16/07) The selected consultant is to review environmental information acquired during the studies, prepare final designs, and implement technical supervision during construction.

Design work is expected to require ten months, while construction supervision is to require 22 months in which all three packages would be implemented simultaneously. Work is to begin in August 2008.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by 5 p.m. November 26 in three English copies and one in Armenian or Russian. Copies in both languages also are to be submitted in Microsoft Word or Adobe pdf format.
