Angola’s National Water Directorate invites expressions of interest from consultants to develop an integrated water resources management plan for the hydropower-rich Cuanza River. Responses are due March 25.
The Cuanza (or Kwanza) River is the location of major hydroelectric projects including 2,067-MW Lauca, 260-MW Cambambe, 700-MW Cambambe 2 and 520-MW Capanda. A 2006 study suggested the United States should consider funding a 6,000-MW Middle Cuanza project.
With funding from the World Bank’s International Development Association, the National Water Directorate (DNA) of Angola’s Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA) seeks consultants to develop an integrated water resources management plan for the Cuanza. Work is to include a report, development scenarios, financing plan and institutional and implementation strategy. The work is to require 24 months.
Expressions of interest are due to the address below by 3 p.m. March 25.
