University Installs Inner City Turbine

June 16, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] The University of Toronto and True-North Power Systems have installed a small wind turbine in Toronto’s inner city. The so-called “urbine” will be used to gather data on energy production from personal-sized wind turbines under urban micro-weather conditions. Inner city wind is very turbulent and more unpredictable than normal small wind locations, the researchers say, and very little data exists on small wind energy production in the city.
