Theme for Environmental Inaugural Ball in DC: “Clean Energy”

Washington, DC [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton and White House Council on Environmental Quality Chairman James Connaughton were some of the key Administration Officials confirming attendance at the 5th Environmental Inaugural Ball to be held January 20th in Washington D.C.

This year’s theme of the Environmental Ball is “Clean Energy.” More than 80 organizations have signed on to support the ball by serving on the Ball Committee. In addition, more than 30 Members of Congress are serving on the Honorary Committee, including some of the key leaders from the members of the Senate Environment, Agriculture, and Energy Committees. “Once again we are seeing the environmental and energy communities come together to use the Inauguration as an opportunity to highlight the importance of these issues to our nation,” said U.S. Senator Jim Jeffords of Vermont. The Senator has served on the Environmental Ball Honorary Committee since 1990 and attended each event. “This event gives us an opportunity to send the message that we want to work together to preserve our resources and protect our environment,” said Senator Jeffords. Interior Secretary Norton, who attended the last Environmental Inaugural Ball, may be joined by incoming Secretaries of Agriculture, Energy, and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. The ball will be held at the Sequoia Restaurant on the Georgetown Waterfront on Thursday evening January 20, from 8:00 pm to 12:00. Tickets are available to the public.
