Solar Energy Center Reworks Hydrogen Web Pages

Cocoa, Florida [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] The Florida Solar Energy Center, a research institute of the University of Central Florida, has launched new web pages for its hydrogen R&D program.

The new site is completely different from FSEC’s former online hydrogen information, with 34 separate sections and links to additional sites. “Visitors to the site will learn about the element hydrogen and how it can be used as an energy carrier, the extensive research on hydrogen conducted at FSEC, and education pages and the hydrogen research database,” said David Block, FSEC Director Emeritus and the project’s leader. “There is also information on fuel cells and more aspects of these technologies.” The Florida Solar Energy Center has a long history of hydrogen research and education. Its hydrogen program began in 1983 with funding from NASA/Kennedy Space Center, and in 1997 it was designated a Center of Excellence in Hydrogen Research and Education by the U.S. Department of Energy. Current research activities include solar water and pool heating, solar electric and distributed generation systems, energy-efficient buildings, alternative transportation systems, hydrogen fuel, fuel cells and other energy areas.
