Memmingen, Germany [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] Phaesun GmbH, along with its partner Ikratos Africa is building ten solar power plants in Koudougou Region in Burkina Faso. The installations, which are expected to be finished at the end of March will produce electricity for telecommunications plants. The systems are being built for Telecel Faso, which has up until now covered its network with diesel-powered telecommunications plants so far.
Telecel Faso said that it will save more than €30,000 per solar system, per year. The systems will be paid for after two to three years.
Each solar plants is equipped with a remote monitoring system and consist of 108 monocrystalline solar modules from ET Solar, batteries from Hoppecke and charge controllers, which were developed especially for telecommunication systems and are particularly suitable for hot regions. Each system has a total output of 9.18 kilowatts.
The first installation went on line on February 16, this year. During the five-day installation, Phaesun trained around 30 engineers, technicians and installers from Telecel Faso and Ikratos Africa on location.
“For large projects we always install the first plant ourselves according to our quality standards and then give our know-how to our partners on location”, said Phaesun’s Amar Chikha
Telecel Faso plans to contract for more of the systems for new stations as well as to replace all of the previously installed diesel generators with solar plants.
