Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd. Jointly developed a 1,000 kW gas engine cogeneration system that will be available for sale on November 1.
The new system is based on the 930 kW gas engine cogeneration system, but the engine maintenance interval has been extended in the newer system, according to Power Engineering.
The friction wear of the engine is reduced by lowering the engine speed from 1,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) to 1,000 rpm.
The use of new long-stroke pistons has made it possible to increase generating output while reducing the engine’s rated speed, and the upgraded engine control technologies have contributed to an overall engine efficiency of 78.5 percent.
