Williams to sell convenience stores to heighten energy focus

The sale is expected to be concluded in the first quarter of 2001. Pursuant to the agreement, Convenience U.S.A will purchase the 198 MAPCO Express convenience stores, primarily in the Tennessee metropolitan areas of Memphis and Nashville. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Dec. 29, 2000–Utilities owned by Unitil Corp. of New Hampshire will raise rates on residential customers by about 25% and commercial and industrial users as much as 36% effective Jan.1, 2001.
