JLM and Fronius Unveil Smart Solar and Storage Technology for the Home at Intersolar

When you combine high-tech and energy, really cool things emerge. One of the cooler announcements this week at Intersolar came from JLM Energy in partnership with Fronius. The two companies debuted a synergistic renewable energy plus storage ecosystem for the home, called Energygizr 200.

Energizr 200 works in harmony with solar power and the conventional grid to meet a predetermined budget set by the homeowner. So for example, a homeowner could specify that s/he wanted to spend $100 per month on energy and the system would track usage, firing up the storage device to power the home when grid costs were high and using the grid to charge the battery when grid energy costs were low, explained Farid. This is especially important in states like California, Arizona, Hawaii and Nevada where net metering is going away and residential demand charges are being added.

This technology includes Symmetric DC Regulation (SDCR) technology that the company says reduces installation and operation cost by up to 50 percent as well as a Fronius Primo inverter that connects directly to Wi-Fi, providing customers with immediate data on how much power they are consuming and how much power the solar system is producing. All of this is integrated with the Honeywell Lyric smart thermostat so customers can remotely pre-cool their home during less expensive hours and avoid peak rates during the dinner hour.

JLM’s Measurz software platform maintains wireless communication with both the inverter and thermostat.

The Energizr 200 has a solar power capacity ranging from 3.8 kW to 8.2 kW (based on the Fronius Primo inverter) and energy storage capacity ranging from 5.2 kWh to 20.8 kWh in increments of 2.6 kWh.
