June 1, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] Starting, June 1, 2004, Austin Energy is offering generous rebates for residential and commercial customers on the installation of solar systems. The maximum rebate of up to $5 per watt for installation – expected to pay for up to 70-80 percent of the cost of a solar installation – is among the largest solar rebate available in the nation. Austin Energy has set a goal to install 100 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity by 2020. This would represent sufficient energy to power 14,000 homes year round. In conjunction with these rebates, Austin Energy is also offering Solar Electric Power Systems workshops from June 27 29, 2004. The topics will include: Imagine Solar Dynamic & Decisions; Solar Electricity Basics and Design; Designing and Installing a Solar Electric System.
