LEESBURG, Va., September 20, 2004 — Eurotherm, a manufacturer and supplier of industrial instrumentation for the process control and data acquisition industries, and a unit of Invensys plc, introduces the OPtima Touch, a rugged, compact, industrial computer combined with an integral LCD touch screen monitor. It is designed to serve as a general purpose human machine interface (HMI). To minimize setup time, the unit comes standard with the Windows® XP operating system and can be custom configured with several HMI software packages.
The OPtima Touch is available with a 15 or 10.4-inch TFT flat panel LCD and a continuous analog resistive touch screen. A fast response time is achieved with a powerful 1.3GHMz Celeron® CPU, 512 MB RAM, and a S3 ProSavage4 4xAGP 3D/2D video controller.
Like Eurotherm’s Intelligent Integrator family of industrial computers, the OPtima Touch family is designed to withstand harsh industrial environments. To minimize the effects of electrical noise, the OPtima Touch carries the European CE the UL/cUL agency approvals. The wide ambient operating temperature range (32-122F) and low component count circuit design also increases reliability.
Expansion is a snap, with an onboard 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port, two USB ports, 3 RS-232 serial ports (one configurable as a RS-232/422/485 port), one parallel and separate PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports. Additional device or control bus networks can be added in the half-length 32-bit PCI card slot.
The OPtima Touch is ideal for tight spaces. Unit depth is limited to 108mm for the 10-inch model and 127mm for the 15-inch. Common applications include automotive, semiconductor, transportation, plastics, heat treating, utilities and more.
