Recurrent Energy has acquired two standalone battery storage systems under development in Texas.

The projects are expected to total a combined 400 MWh of storage and are located in ERCOT's South Zone. Recurrent acquired the projects from Houston-based developer Black Mountain Energy Storage.

The transactions were executed through the LevelTen Asset Marketplace.

"We ought to see pronounced volatility at these nodes for years to come, and these batteries will not only capture significant value but provide resiliency in a sparse region of ERCOT's transmission network," said Witt Duncan, Black Mountain's director of corporate development.

Duncan said Black Mountain has a pipeline of 3 GW of sited battery storage projects in ERCOT.

Recurrent, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has developed 2.9 GWh of energy storage projects that are in construction or operation and has an additional pipeline of 15.5 GWh of projects under early to mid-stage development.
