Covering the cleantech industries for years, there are many companies and technologies that I think offer exciting solutions to our global warming and pollution crises. However, these days, not many new ones pop onto my radar and make me really sit up in my seat. EcoNation made me do so.
What EcoNation is doing is innovative on several fronts. The energy savings it offers are tremendous. The solution is fairly easy to implement. The return on investment is often about as good as it gets. And the quality-of-life improvement and customer benefits seal the deal, putting this company’s cleantech solution in a league few can play in.
As I’ve stated previously, EcoNation’s lighting solution may the the best thing that has come about in the lighting industry since incandescent lighting was invented. (Though, the invention of LEDs is definitely in the running for that claim.)
The surprising thing is that I haven’t seen EcoNation’s solution elsewhere. It should be a popular lighting choice across the world, so popular even that it is mundane. The other finalists in the SME category of the 2015 Zayed Future Energy Prize are also top, quality companies that would deserve a win, but I will admit that I am pulling for EcoNation so that the prize will bring more attention to this fledgling company and its superb cleantech solution. I would like to see the idea spread far beyond its current market, and winning the award could certainly help with that.
We’ll see. In the meantime, if you haven’t yet familiarized yourself with EcoNation’s efficient lighting solution, be sure to watch the video above, and head on over to the EcoNation website for more information.
