Welding repairs sought for McNary emergency intake gate bulkheads

The Corps’ Walla Walla District also seeks information about firms capable of performing welding repairs on emergency intake gate bulkheads at McNary. Responses are due Feb. 16.

The Corps solicited information in December about firms capable of performing other emergency intake gate work related to fish screen installations at McNary.

In the latest solicitation, the Corps said that, prior to 1995, emergency intake gate bulkheads 1 and 3 were torch cut into four pieces. Later the sections were re-welded, though the bulkheads have been out of service since 2006. Ultrasonic testing in 2007 revealed the welds to be unsatisfactory.

The Corps seeks information on firms capable of repairing the bulkheads and making them ready to place back in service. The work is valued at $100,000 to $500,000.

A sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912EF12RSS14 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
