Swedish firm NCC gets contract for hydropower plant expansion

NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned by energy company E.ON to expand the Balforsen hydropower plant at Umealven, outside Lycksele.

The existing hydropower plant has two turbines. Adjacent to the existing hydropower plant, NCC will construct a new power station with a third turbine, NCC announced.

The project, which is conditional upon a definitive decision by E.ON and water-rights approval from the Environmental Court, is scheduled to commence between September 2010 and January 2011, depending on when such a ruling is received.
