
The International Hydropower Association’s World Hydropower Congress is coming up May 14 through 16 in Paris, with a special focus on hydropower’s role in delivering on the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals, under the theme “The Power of Water in a Sustainable, Interconnected World.”
The congress is held every two years and brings together leading decision-makers, innovators and experts from industry, government, finance, civil society and academia.
IHA anticipates attendance from more than 70 countries, with 37 focus sessions and workshops to provide learning and networking opportunities to attendees.
Some featured speakers at this year’s event are:
- Pravin Karki, global lead hydropower and dams, World Bank Group
- Clare Shakya, director, climate change, International Institute for Environment and Development
- Judith Plummer Braeckman, senior research associate, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership
- Luiz Gabriel Todt de Azevedo, division chief — environmental, social and corporate governance, IDB Invest
Winners of three awards will be announced during the congress: IHA Blue Planet Prize, IHA Mosonyi Award for Excellence in Hydropower and IHA Young Researcher Award.
