Atlanta, GA, Feb. 24, 2004 — RETX Inc., a provider of Internet-based software applications and services to the energy industry, announced that New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) has extended their contract for ePath Notification Managerà¢â€ž-.
Rapid, secure, multiple point communications, such as those provided by ePath Notification Manager, were proven to be important elements of an interconnected power grid during the Blackout of 2003. ePath Notification Manager, a component of RETX’s ePath product suite, will enable NYISO to send secure two-way communications between their customers and alert them of demand response events.
The NYISO will use ePath Notification Manager for its Demand Response Program. The NYISO’s Demand Response Program is the largest in the nation with over 1000 MW participating. NYISO will use the system to send text and automated voice communications to its program participants.
The system gives program participants the ability to respond to the notification in order for NYISO to understand who is able to participate.
ePath Notification Manager allows the New York ISO to track and audit customers’ responses in real-time, track historical notifications, and store each customers’ contact information all in one place.
The New York ISO has proven the value of Notification Manger as an extremely useful tool to securely communicate critical information to large numbers of parties in near realtime. In addition to demand response applications, NYISO can use ePath Notification Manger to communicate various correspondences such as new product opportunities, general system conditions, price plans and weather alerts.
Said Ross D. Malme, President, CEO and Founder of RETX, “An important component of the Demand Response process is the notification management and audit piece. The New York ISO has realized this and has made this feature available to simplify and facilitate their process during a demand response event. The New York ISO’s program is a robust program and RETX Notification Manager will help better the overall communications and event notification management process.”
“We are pleased to extend our relationship with RETX. They are dedicated to serving our needs and committed to providing the tools and services needed for effective demand response. ePath Notification Manager will help us offer a great 2004 Demand Response Program,” states David Lawrence, Manager, Product Development, of New York ISO.
