Peak Load Management Alliance announces new officers

JUPITER, Fla.–Dec. 10, 2001–The Peak Load Management Alliance (PLMA) today announced the results of their recently-held election of officers.

Blackouts, shortages and price spikes in the electric power industry have been big news for the past year, particularly on the west coast. PLMA was formed in the year 2000 as an alliance of organizations of suppliers of electricity, load shedding systems manufacturers, consultants, research groups and trade associations to promote the concept of reducing demand for electricity in response to pricing signals in the marketplace.

“In just over one year since its inception, PLMA has developed into the leading organization providing information regarding demand response in the electricity markets,” remarked Elliot Boardman, Executive Director of PLMA. “The new officers of PLMA have pledged their continuing efforts to educate market participants, system operators and regulators to the importance of demand response in mitigating price spikes and improving system reliability.”

The new officers, elected at a recent Board meeting of PLMA are:

* Chairman – Ross Malme, President and CEO, Retx

* Vice Chairman – Joel Gilbert, CEO, Apogee Interactive

* Secretary – Karen Sawyer, Senior Program Manager in the Cooperative Research Network(r) of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association

* Treasurer – Greg Bullington, Custom Markets Manager, Kansas City Power & Light
