[RenewbleEnergyAccess.com] Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn and Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt presented Ormat Technologies’ Daniel Schochet, VP, with the state’s Distinguished Business of the Year award for 2005. Since its beginnings in Lyon County, Nevada, Ormat has supplied 750 MW of geothermal and recovered energy power in 21 countries, with ownership of U.S. geothermal facilities producing a total of 300 MW of power. Plus, Ormat and the University of Nevada in Reno plan to develop a Renewable Energy Center at the Redfield Campus south of Reno. The goal of both Ormat and the University of Nevada is to develop a world-class facility for geothermal and renewable energy research, education and outreach. The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) co-hosted the award ceremony with the Northern Nevada Development Authority, in cooperation with the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.
