NRECA applauds creation of Rural America Task Force

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association applauds President Trump‘s creation of the Rural America Task Force.

“We appreciate President Trump recognizing the need to prioritize rural American families and businesses,” said NRECA CEO Jim Matheson. “This task force is a key step as we seek to develop rural communities economically. That includes implementing new energy technologies to meet tomorrow’s energy needs while also deploying broadband and other services to enhance daily lives throughout rural America. America’s electric cooperatives are deeply invested in the communities they serve. They look forward to working with this new task force while continuing to empower millions of rural American families and businesses.”

The administration’s announcement follows a series of outreach efforts by electric cooperatives and coalitions dedicated to enriching rural America, NRECA said. In a February letter, NRECA led more than 40 organizations in a coordinated call for the White House to prioritize the interests of rural communities.

NRECA is the national service organization that represents the nation’s more than 900 private, not-for-profit, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide service to 42 million people in 47 states.
