The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will say in June 21 Federal Register notice that Entergy is withdrawing an application for a combined license for a single unit of the Economic Simplified Boiling-Water Reactor.
This reactor is identified as River Bend Station Unit 3, to have been located at the current River Bend Nuclear Station site near St. Francisville, Louisiana, in West Feliciana Parish. The effective date of the withdrawal of the application for combined license is June 21.
A notice of receipt and availability of this application was previously published in the Federal Register in November 2008. In December 2008, a subsequent notice was published in the Federal Register announcing the acceptance of the River Bend combined license application for docketing.
By letter dated Jan. 9, 2009, Entergy Operations requested that the NRC temporarily suspend the combined license application review, including any supporting reviews by external agencies, until further notice. The NRC granted the suspension request. By letter dated Dec. 4, 2015, EOI requested the NRC to withdraw the River Bend license application from the docket.
The River Bend plant, operated by Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, has 974 MW of Maximum Dependable Capacity.
