Central Utah Water Conservancy District awarded a $10 million contract in August to W.W. Clyde &Co. of Springville, Utah, to construct the 12-MW Jordanelle Dam project at the Bureau of Reclamation’s Jordanelle Dam in Heber City, Utah.
The contractor will build the powerhouse and install owner-furnished equipment, including turbines, generators, inlet valves, and control equipment. (HNN 5/29/06)
Central Utah awarded a $5 million contract in 2005 to VA Tech Hydro Canada Inc. to provide turbines, generators, hydraulic power and control units, plant control system, and turbine inlet valves.
The reinforced concrete power plant will house two 6-MW horizontal Francis turbines, each rated about 300 cubic feet per second. The project will feature an 84-inch-diameter steel penstock, connected to the dam’s outlet works, and butterfly-type inlet valves.
The water district said it planned to issue W.W. Clyde &Co. a notice to proceed in September. Construction is to be completed by May 2008.
The Department of Interior approved a lease of power privilege for the project in 2005, enabling the district to proceed with development. Central Utah plans to sell all power generated to Heber Light &Power, a municipal utility.
