UPDATE – India developer again extends EPC date for 56-MW Naitwar Mori

Hydro developer Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVN) extended the deadline a second time for pre-qualification to build the 56-MW Naitwar Mori hydroelectric project on the Rupin River in India’s Uttarakhand State. Responses now are due August 19.

The deadline for pre-qualification had been extended to July 23 from the original date of June 4. (HNN 6/4/08)

SJVN also set a new deadline of August 18 for obtaining pre-qualification documents. A new pre-bid meeting also was scheduled for July 30 at Delhi.

The firm seeks construction of the project on an engineering-procurement-construction basis over 36 months. The project includes:
o Civil works: 30.5-meter-tall dam, 300-meter diversion channel, intake structure, desilting chambers, headrace tunnel, surge shaft, 231-meter pressure shaft, powerhouse, transformer bay, and a tailrace channel and tunnel;
o Electro-mechanical works: design, manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning of two 28-MW vertical Francis turbine-generators, switchyard, and auxiliary equipment;
o Hydro-mechanical works: design, fabrication, painting, installation, testing, and commissioning of radial gates, vertical gates, stoplogs, hydraulic hoists, rope drum hoists, gantry crane, electric overhead traveling crane, trashrack cleaning machine, and other equipment.

Pre-qualification documents now may be obtained through August 18 by request to the address below labeled �Request for Pre-qualification Invitation Document for Turnkey Execution for Naitwar Mori H.E. Project.� The request is to include a fee of 20,000 rupees or US$500 by demand draft to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. at Shimla.

The documents also are to be available on the SJVN Internet site, www.sjvn.nic.in, and on http://tenders.gov.in. If the documents are obtained there, SJVN is to be notified at the address below at least five days before the response date and the document fee paid with the pre-qualification application.

Requests for clarification may be made until July 24 for discussion during the July 30 pre-bid meeting. Time and venue of the meeting are to be posted on the Internet sites above, SJVN said.
