The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids in two solicitations for intake and spillway crane rehabilitation and for DC board and breaker replacements at the 42.6-MW Albeni Falls hydroelectric project on the Pend Oreille River in Idaho.
Bids are expected to be due June 1 for cranes rehab. The Corps’ Seattle District also seeks responses by April 25 to a sources sought notice for the board and breaker work.
The Corps called for responses in 2009 for auxiliary board replacement at Albeni Falls. The agency recently carried out other renovation work at Albeni Falls.
The Seattle District expects to issue a solicitation no sooner than early May for rehabilitation of both intake and spillway cranes including new guard rail, access ladders, and gates; new platform, guard rail, and cable reel; new generator set; new main cab; new auxiliary cab for the intake crane; main hoist; trolley drive; and gantry drive. The work is valued at between $5 million and $10 million.

Procurement information sought for boards, breakers
In the other solicitation, the Corps seeks information from small businesses about their capability to replace DC boards and breakers at Albeni Falls. If there are a sufficient number capable firms, the work would be set aside for qualified small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, woman-owned businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, or HUBZone contractors.
Work would include demolishing existing and furnishing new 115-VAC and 125-VDC panelboards, including conduit, cable tray, wiring, disconnects, transformers, switchboards, enclosures, annunciator panel, chargers, and inverters. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.
