The Bureau of Reclamation plans to seek bids to supply a trash rake cleaning system for trashracks at 120-MW Parker Dam on the Colorado River. The agency said it expects to issue a request for proposals about May 27, with responses to be due 30 days later.
Reclamation took information in November 2010 from potential suppliers about proposed acquisition of a trash rake cleaning system for Parker. The bureau has been performing modernization work for several years at 2,078-MW Hoover Dam in Arizona and Nevada, 255-MW Davis Dam in Arizona, and Parker in California.
Reclamation now plans to seek bids from small businesses to design, manufacture, and install a trash rack cleaner. The existing structure, which has no trash rakes, includes 12 bays with two columns of trashracks per bay. Reclamation seeks a trash rake system for the forebay inlet structure that would remove accumulated quagga mussels and aquatic plants, alleviate low flow velocities, and retrieve collected debris.
