The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids for replacement switchgear and transformers at three hydroelectric projects on the Alabama River in Alabama. Bids are expected to be due March 4, 2010.
The Corps’ Mobile District said it plans to acquire arc-resistant indoor medium-voltage metal-clad switchgear assemblies and associated instrumentation transformers to replace General Electric Magneblast switchgear at 75-MW Millers Ferry powerhouse at Camden, Ala., and Westinghouse-type DH switchgear at 130-MW Walter F. George powerhouse at Shorterville, Ala. (HydroWorld 5/4/09)
The contract is to include an option to replace ITE-type HK switchgear assemblies at 68-MW Jones Bluff powerhouse at Selma, Ala.
The Corps said it expects to issue a solicitation notice in February. A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9127810R0051 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
