The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to construct the Minto Fish Collection Rebuild project at 100-MW Detroit Dam on Oregon’s North Santiam River. Bids are due Feb. 15.
The Corps held a pre-solicitation conference in October to give contractors an overview of the size, scope, and timeline of the Minto Fish Collection project.
NOAA Fisheries issued a biological opinion in 2008 for 13 dams in Oregon’s Willamette River Basin, including Detroit Dam. The opinion called for construction and operation of downstream fish passage at Detroit Dam by 2023. Long-term improvements to water temperature at Detroit Dam are to be made through operational changes or structural modifications by 2018.
The Corps seeks construction of a new fish collection facility that meets criteria of the National Marine Fisheries Service for upstream passage and collection facilities for Endangered Species Act listed fish. The work is expected to cost between $25 million and $100 million.
