The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids for turbine runner cavitation repair at the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee hydroelectric project in Washington and the 428-MW Hungry Horse hydro project in Montana. Bids now are due June 17.
Reclamation held a site visit May 21 and originally called for bids by June 5.
The agency put a new control system on line in April at Grand Coulee. It also took bids in January to replace fire-damaged electrical equipment at the project. The agency took bids last year to replace switchgear at Hungry Horse. Hydro Services LLC won a cavitation repair contract at Hungry Horse in 2013.
Reclamation now seeks bids for a five-year contract for welding of surface erosion and cavitation in stainless steel turbines at both plants. The work features confined space and access, and performance periods limited to scheduled outages. The work is valued at $5 million to $10 million.
