The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers again extended bidding to replace a substation at 2,457.3-MW Chief Joseph Dam, on the Columbia River near Bridgeport, Wash. Bids now are due Sept. 14.
The Corps’ Seattle District previously called for bids by Aug. 23 and Aug. 9. The Corps said in April that it planned to seek bids to replace exciters at Chief Joseph, but subsequently canceled the solicitation, saying it would readvertise it in the future. Chief Joseph has been undergoing refurbishment for several years.
In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, the Corps now seeks removal of an SQ0 and CQ03 480-volt substation, as well as furnishing, installation, and testing of a new CQ03.1 and CQ03.2 480-volt substation. The work is expected to cost between $1 million $5 million.
