The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to upgrade the switchyard of the 130-MW Walter F. George project on the Alabama River in Georgia and Alabama. Bids are due June 3.
The Corps took bids in March to supply gas breakers for Walter F. George and the 82-MW Allatoona project on Georgia’s Etowah River, with an option to supply three other projects. (HydroWorld 3/12/10) It also took bids in March for replacement switchgear and transformers at Walter F. George, 75-MW Millers Ferry at Camden, Ala., and 68-MW Jones Bluff at Selma, Ala. The current solicitation calls for planning, supervision, some equipment, and other necessary items to upgrade the Walter F. George switchyard. The procurement is a 100 percent set-aside for small business.
