Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) seeks bids for Package 2 to construct transmission lines to interconnect the 106-MW Golen Gol hydroelectric project. Bids are due January 21.
The Saudi Fund for Development announced in November it would provide another US$57 million for the project being developed on the Golen Gol River, a tributary of the Mastuj River in Chitral District of Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province. Pakistani officials also announced in 2012 that they endorsed WAPDA’s naming of Rainpower ASA to be consultants to the project.
WAPDA previously called for bids in 2012 for 198 kilometers of 132-kilovolt transmission line and grid stations.
In a two-envelope bidding procedure, WAPDA now seeks bids for design, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning of a total of 85 kilometers of 132-kilovolt transmission line and grid stations. Bidders must be licensed by the Pakistan Engineering Council, with foreign bidders able to bid in joint venture with such Pakistani firms.
