Pakistan again seeks bids to build 17-MW Ranolia Khwar

Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province (NWFP) has reissued a call for bids to design and construct the 17-MW Ranolia Khwar hydroelectric project in NWFP. Bids now are due May 4.

NWFP’s executing agency, Sarhad Hydel Development Organization (SHYDO), previously called for bids by February 15. (HydroWorld 1/22/10) SHYDO took bids in 2008 from consultants for management, design, and supervision of Ranolia Khwar, then listed as 11.5 MW. (HydroWorld 11/5/08)

The current solicitation seeks bids for:
o Civil construction of a weir/intake with power channel, siphon, forebay, penstock, powerhouse, and tailrace;
o Mechanical equipment including two Pelton turbines, powerhouse overhead crane, workshop, crane, siphon, penstock with manifold, draft tube, gates, and trashracks; and
o Electrical equipment including two horizontal-shaft 10.625 megavolt-ampere generators, three-phase step-up transformers, switchyard, transmission lines, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, telecommunication, and grid interconnection.

Bid documents in English may be obtained from the address below for 12,000 rupees (US$144) by bank draft to PM Ranolia HPP SHYDO. A new pre-bid meeting is scheduled April 6.
