Mikron Infrared’s new DualVision Ultra substation monitoring system combines airborne ultrasound sensing with visual and infrared video for continuous substation monitoring in an environmentally hardened, Internet-enabled package. The DualVision/Ultra 724 system consists of separate thermal imaging and video cameras, plus an ultrasonic detection unit housed in an environmentally sealed enclosure. The cameras and ultrasound sensor have Internet IP addresses and password protection, allowing control from any computer using wired or wireless Ethernet. Used with Mikron’s MikroSpec R/T software, the DualVision Ultra system can produce separate IR and visual images, a composite visual/IR image, ultrasonic wave forms, and audible sound “translated” from the ultrasound. Visual surveillance enhanced with IR imaging makes it easy to spot intruders 24/7, without supplementary lighting.

The GPS24 Series multi-function programmable capacitor control, from Accurate Controls, is used to automatically control power capacitors in an electric utility distribution system. The GPS24 utilizes a GPS receiver to obtain accurate time and date information for a long unattended, extremely accurate service life. Using the GPS system eliminates the need for a battery back-up system to keep time during AC power interruptions as the signal is acquired upon each power-up. Time drift normally experienced with other controls is eliminated as the time and date is continually reacquired.
