Machining bids sought for 637-MW California project

Sacramento Municipal Utility District seeks bids for turbine machining services at its 224-MW White Rock powerhouse, part of the 637.257-MW Upper American River hydroelectric project in California. A pre-bid conference is set Sept. 17, with bids due Oct. 2.

SMUD seeks machining services for White Rock Units 1 and 2. Work is to include: inspecting and measuring the turbine in each unit, including checking head covers and bottom rings for parallelism and level; machining upper and lower facing plates; and, checking bores for wicket gate bushings for concentricity and perpendicularity.

SMUD estimates the value of the work to be $1 million.

SMUD previously issued a solicitation, No. 080266.GV, calling for bids for turbine machining services for the same units. (HNN 6/27/08) It also plans to upgrade governors and turbine shutoff valve controls for ten units in seven powerhouses of the project (No. 2101).
