India’s NHPC pre-qualifies EM bidders for 1,045-MW Kotlibhel projects

India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corp. (NHPC) invites applications for pre-qualification to supply electro-mechanical equipment for three hydroelectric projects in Uttarakhand State totaling 1,045 MW. Responses are due April 26.

The projects are 195-MW Kotlibhel 1A, 320-MW Kotlibhel 1B, and 530-MW Kotlibhel 2. In 2006, NHPC pre-qualified contractors for civil works construction. (HNN 10/5/06)

Equipment sought includes turbine-generators, auxiliary electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, and switchyards for Kotlibhel 1A, which is to have three 65-MW units; Kotlibhel 1B, which is to have four 80-MW units; and Kotlibhel 2, which is to have eight 66.25-MW units.

Pre-qualification is open to manufacturing/turnkey engineering-procurement-construction companies and joint ventures from any country. Applicants may pre-qualify for any or all of the projects in a single application.

Pre-qualification documents may be obtained until March 26 from the NHPC Internet site, www.nhpcindia.com. That must be followed by a letter of notification to the address below by April 2, accompanied by a document fee of 40,000 rupees or US$1,000 by demand draft to National Hydroelectric Power Corp. Ltd. at Faridabad.

Documents also may be obtained by March 26 from the address below by a request accompanied by the document fee. Requests must be labeled “Request for Pre-qualification Invitation Documents for Lot III: Electrical &Mechanical Works for 195 MW (3 x 65 MW) Capacity Kotlibhel-IA, 320 MW (4 x 80 MW) Capacity Kotlibhel-IB &530 MW (8 x 66.25 MW) Capacity Kotlibhel-II H.E. Project” NHPC instructed bidders to strike from the label any inapplicable projects.

Applications for pre-qualification are due by 2 p.m. April 26.
