Government gives go-ahead for Nepal’s 49.6-MW Super Dordi Kha hydro project

Nepal’s Hydropower Development Board has given clearance for the 49.6-MW Super Dordi Kha hydroelectric project.

The 49.6-MW run-of-river plant, to be located in Nepal’s Lamjung District, is being developed by the People’s Hydro Power Company.

The group was awarded permission to generate and sell power from the Super Dordi Kha plant for 35 years, though a power purchase agreement is still being negotiated with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

Data from People’s Hydro shows power generated by the plant will come from three vertical Pelton turbines — the first of which could be in operation in 2018.
