Ethiopia seeks topographic survey of Lake Tana sub-basin

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia 12/13/11 (PennWell) — Ethiopia’s Ministry of Water and Energy invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a topographic survey of the Lake Tana sub-basin flood plain in Ethiopia. Responses are due December 26.

The government has received World Bank funding for the Tana and Beles Integrated Water Resources Development Project, which is intended to develop enabling institutions and investments for integrated planning, management, and development in the Tana and Beles sub-basins, site of the 460-MW Beles hydroelectric project.

The ministry seeks consultants to prepare a detailed topographic map that will help identify the existing nature of all flood plain features, including specific landscape values that might be affected by different levels of floods. The work is to support accurate flood plain modeling.

Expressions of interest and qualifications, an original and two copies, are due by 4 p.m. December 26.
