Energy Systems Group, LLC and Mt. Vernon Developmental Center implement plan to improve community

MT. VERNON, Ohio, May 6, 2004 — Energy Systems Group, LLC, Mt. Vernon Development Corporation, the Ohio Department of Administrative Services and the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA) partner in implementing a program to significantly improve energy efficiency and the environment in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

ESG’s development of a Strategic Energy Master Plan for the 15 buildings on Mt. Vernon Development Corporation’s campus creates a 21st century energy infrastructure which supports the center’s mission to provide services and support to individuals living in Central Ohio. This plan calls for the installation of modern facility management systems, HVAC controls, lighting, heat recovery and steam supply.

Doug Tischbein, Indianapolis regional manager of ESG noted, “We are very excited and proud to partner with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services to implement this Strategic Energy Master Plan for Mt. Vernon Developmental Center. This new plan and implementation will reduce the energy use and costs at the facility and redirect these savings to provide top level services to the center’s clients and families.”
Upon completion of this six month stage of the strategic plan, Mt. Vernon Developmental Center staff and patrons will enjoy a more comfortable, efficient and modern working and living environment.

“The Mount Vernon Developmental Center looks forward to the energy efficient future that benefits the individuals and staff of the center,” said Steve Schumacher, director of operations at Mt. Vernon Developmental Center. This positive impact was further amplified by Mark Shanahan, executive director of OAQDA, “Energy efficiency projects not only save taxpayers’ money by reducing the cost to maintain and operate Ohio facilities, but contribute to the improvement of Ohio’s air as well.”

The ESG team and the team from the Department of Administrative Services worked closely with OAQDA to secure project financing. This $1.5 million dollar project will use OAQDA revenue bonding capabilities specifically designed for programs that save energy and reduce environmental impacts.

“This is a win-win design for everyone involved. Mt. Vernon Development Center will save money in times of tight budgets and the community will enjoy the benefit of a comfortable and modern facility,” said Jim Adams, president of ESG. “Energy Systems Group strives to develop customer relationships that solve energy related challenges while preserving and improving the environment in which we all live and work. We are excited to be able to help Mt. Vernon Developmental Center save energy to focus their budget dollars on serving their clients.”
