SAVANNAH, Ga., U.S. 9/14/11 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids for installation of main circuit breakers and a static frequency converter system and replacement of excitation systems at the 600-MW Richard B. Russell hydroelectric project on the Savannah River in Georgia.
The Corps’ Savannah District expects to issue the solicitation about Oct. 24. The Corps took bids in 2010 to design a plan to correct vibration of pump-turbine generating Units 5 and 6 at Russell.
The latest work is to include replacement of the main unit breakers for Units 1-8 with government-furnished SF6 15-kV breakers, replacement of static excitation systems for Units 5-8 with government furnished systems, and installation of a government-furnished static frequency converter system.
A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912HN11R0045 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. The solicitation is to be issued about Oct. 24.
